Cosmetic Injectables

BOTOX® and Dysport® are the most popular injectables to smooth fine lines and wrinkles but are also for preventing the increased intensity of those lines as we age for both men and women. These neurotoxins both relax and erase wrinkles by inhibiting muscle contraction. The three most common areas to inject, approved by the FDA, include forehead lines, crow’s feet, and frown lines. 

The injections are quick with the entire procedure taking approximately 15-20 minutes. Results are seen 7-10 days post treatment and can last up to three to four months (individual results may vary). 

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE? 

People use the term "Botox" interchangeably for products like Dysport. All two are effective treatments that originate from the same source bacterium, clostridium botulinum. They are synthesized as botulinum toxin type A, the paralyzing agent or neurotoxin that is administered. Each has been consistently proven in clinical trials and then worldwide application. The result is almost always the same: each injectable temporarily paralyzes the targeted muscle areas on the face to relax and ease out the appearance of wrinkles.   

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BOTOX AND DYSPORT?  

BOTOX® and Dysport® are all neuromodulators and only take minutes to inject (with little to no downtime), but there are key differences too:
  

BOTOX® 

Botox is the brand name of an injectable product produced by Allergan Inc. It is the first and most popular neuromodulator. Botox takes seven to ten days to see the results. Botox may be the best option to concentrate on deeper wrinkling.  

DYSPORT®  

Dysport contains Lactose and cow's milk protein and muscular blocking agents to improve its effectiveness. Noted benefits of Dysport include that it spreads more than Botox and patients who have stopped responding to Botox commonly use it. Dysport has a quicker onset time, typically taking two or three days to see results, but a shorter lifespan.  We at Pure Brilliant Aesthetics do not think one neurotoxin is better than the other, we offer options for all of our patients with different needs.
